Tembec Forest Products Group in Huntsville Ontario are using MicroLoads on
two CAT 325 MH (machines that sort and weigh wood in the mill yard) in the
bush to establish payment to logging contractors by weight. Prior to adapting
MicroLoad this was a time consuming supervisory responsibility. Now it is
done automatically by a push of a button on the machine control lever and
has little effect the machine cycle time.
Since December 1998, Tembec has been using MicroLoads on a Liebherr 924 in
the mill yard to sort and scale several different species of hard wood. Gerald
Kroes, Mill Manager states "MicroLoad has cut the time it took for manual hand scaling from 1-1 1/2 hours
to 30-40 minutes. Accuracy is not an issue as the MicroLoad is well within
the 1% accurate".
All of Tembec's MicroLoad systems use the optional ticket printer and the
Data Logger in order to transfer multiple long totals via the 64K cartridge
directly into their office PC spreadsheet program.
MicroLoad Push-to-Weigh switch, allows the machine operator to choose the
best time and position for weighing the load. In all loading applications
MicroLoad allows the operator to select the options most suited for the job,
such as count up, count down, unit of measure, product & attachment calibration. MicroLoad for material handlers is unaffected by engine
RPM or the position of the boom and dipper.
The target mode allows count down to zero as loading progresses. With the
optional printer MicroLoad can even automatically print a ticket.
In materials re-handling, the count up mode enables MicroLoad to keep an
on screen running total of large loads that are delivered to train cars,
ships or stock piles. The Long Totals memory tracks total production of each
pile or species separately.
In logging operations MicroLoad can be used for Scaling. Just transfer the
memorized individual species load weight into eXelerator on a PC or use the
Data Logger and convert the weight to board feet.
